Maruti Cements Ltd. (MCL) is one of the biggest private sector cement plant situated at Chandraudaipur, Siraha, Nepal. This plant manufactures 2000 tonnes per day amount of cement.

Jakson was approached to provide back-up power solution to ensure no breakdown in power supply. Based on our past experience of handling similar projects we offered Maruti Cement Ltd. a solution of providing 05 nos. of backup power consisting of 03 DG sets in phase 1 and 02 DG sets totaling to 10 MVA.

Business Need

The need for back-up power in any 24/7 process industry manufacturing plant is of critical importance. The Maruti cement plant is based on rotary technology that requires seamless switchover from grid to back up without affecting the production flow.

On an average Maruti Cement faces 12-16 hrs of power cut in a day therefore they require gensets that are reliable and proven to run for long durations. Jakson-Cummins with its superior technology was front runner in their decision making cycle.

  • Delivery of 2000 KVA, 6.6 KV DG sets through mountainous roads into the remote area of Nepal.
  • Supervision of entire mechanical & electrical works for 6.6KV system including HT power cabling, earthing & control cabling systems at remote area.
  • Synchronization & communication between all five nos. 2000 KVA, 6.6KV DG Sets in stages along with synchronizing with their existing grid.

After studying the load pattern of this new technology rotary cement plant and considering all the loading patterns & derations due to high altitudes locations,we proposed a combination of 05 nos of 2000 KVA HT DG sets in two phases considering the customer needs.

The first phase of the project was undertaken and commissioned in 2011 .The customer after having successfully experienced the working of the DG’s in phase 1 of the project then offered up phase two of the project which was undertaken and commissioned in 2013.

In the words of Mr. Manish Kumar , Executive Vice President – Projects:

“Jakson understood the customer need and has been able to provide a solution that no other competitor has been able to match both in terms of quality & reliability”.
