Jakson provided complete turnkey EPC services for this project that included supply, erection, testing, commissioning including warranty, operations and maintenance. All the solar plants are powered by highly efficient Jakson On Grid Solar Power Packs ranging from 3 KW to 15 KW, in accordance with specifications provided by CREST. Every household was offered customized solar power solutions depending upon its energy requirement and reliability of grid power in the area.
Chandigarh is a Union Territory in India that also is the capital of Haryana and Punjab. Located in the Northern part of India, the city is considered to be one of the best planned cities in India. Befitting the recognition, Chandigarh has been a proactive supporter of installation of solar in the city. Since being declared as a model solar city in 2013, Chandigarh has played a pioneering role in incorporating solar energy into its mainstream energy requirements.
The transition to renewables for catering to energy requirements can bring tremendous benefits to cities, including cleaner air, modern services and improved living spaces. Coming from this perspective, Chandigarh Renewal Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST) has been consistently propagating usage of solar energy in Chandigarh. To further push for adoption of solar energy by residential sector CREST had invited tenders to install rooftop solar plants at residential houses across the city. While the Government buildings have been extremely keen to install rooftop solar, the growth in the residential sector has been slightly slower, therefore attractive subsidy schemes have been floated to incentivise quick adoption of solar energy.
Jakson in partnership with its local distributor, M/s Mahira Ltd recently installed and commissioned On Grid rooftop solar power packs at over 100 residential buildings across the city of Chandigarh. Jakson was selected as a preferred partner by CREST because of its extensive EPC experience of having executed over 80 MW of prestigious rooftop projects across India. The project was executed under the CAPEX model where the customer invests in the setup of solar plant and subsequently enjoys the benefits of reduced electricity costs for the entire life time of the plant. Ranging from 5 KW to 15 KW, these rooftop solar plants not only helped in cutting down electricity costs but also contributes to the greener environment of the city.
Net metering facility is also provided to enable selling off excess power to the grid, which has resulted in substantial electricity cost savings for the home owners. Additionally, Jakson also provided hands-on training to home owners on regular plant maintenance such as cleaning of solar panels and general upkeep of the plant in order to maintain a good uptime.
