Jakson Group successfully commissioned an 800 KW grid connected rooftop solar power plant at Satrex University, located in Gurgaon, Haryana. The project was executed under Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) RESCO model. Jakson provided complete turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the project. In addition to turnkey execution, Jakson will provide annual operations and maintenance service for a period of 25 years. The plant will facilitate offsetting of about 960 tons of carbon emissions per year and also achieve cost savings of INR 35 to 40 lakhs per year.
Starex University is a private university located in the village Binola, Gurgaon district, Haryana, India. The university was established by the Starex group through the Haryana Private Universities Act, in 2016. Spread across 40 acres, the campus houses a state of the art academic block, equipped with all modern amenities. The campus also has separate hostels for boys and girls, several playing grounds, sporting facilities that provide a world-class environment to the students for their holistic development.
Starex University with its large campus and abundant vacant rooftop space, presented an ideal situation for installation of 800 KW solar rooftop power plant. Enabled with Net Metering facility, the installation has potential to substantially cut down electricity costs.
Educational institutes with modern infrastructure require significant amounts of electricity for their day-to-day operations. With ever increasing electricity costs, solar rooftop power plants has emerged as an ideal solution to save on electricity costs. Moreover, educational institutions play a vital role in socio-economic transformation of a society. Installation of solar power plant in an educational institute not only help in creating awareness about this clean and green technology but also help demonstrate a forward looking and environmentally responsible organization.
Jakson provided complete turnkey EPC services for this project that included supply, erection, testing, commissioning including warranty, operations and maintenance. The plant is set up under Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) RESCO model. In this model, customers pay only for the power produced and consumed under a mutually agreed Power Purchase Agreement. Any additional units generated, is sold to power utilities using net metering facility.
A total of more than 2500 highly efficient polycrystalline solar PV module of 320 Wp rating was installed in the plant along with all other requisite items of a solar rooftop installation. The plant generates approximately 12 lakh units of green electricity every year, to be mainly used for various power requirements of the university.
The power generated by the plant is sold to the university at a subsidised rate under a 25 year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed between both Jakson and Starex University, and will enable savings in the range of INR 35 to 40 lakhs per year. The plant will further help offset about 960 tons of carbon emissions per year as well.
