Business need
Starex University with its large campus and abundant vacant rooftop space, presented an ideal situation for installation of 800 KW solar rooftop power plant. Enabled with Net Metering facility, the installation has potential to substantially cut down electricity costs.
Educational institutes with modern infrastructure require significant amounts of electricity for their day-to-day operations. With ever increasing electricity costs, solar rooftop power plants has emerged as an ideal solution to save on electricity costs. Moreover, educational institutions play a vital role in socio-economic transformation of a society. Installation of solar power plant in an educational institute not only help in creating awareness about this clean and green technology but also help demonstrate a forward looking and environmentally responsible organization.

Any additional units generated, is sold to power utilities using net metering facility.
A total of more than 2500 highly efficient polycrystalline solar PV module of 320 Wp rating was installed in the plant along with all other requisite items of a solar rooftop installation. The plant generates approximately 12 lakh units of green electricity every year, to be mainly used for various power requirements of the university.
The power generated by the plant is sold to the university at a subsidised rate under a 25 year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed between both Jakson and Starex University, and will enable savings in the range of INR 35 to 40 lakhs per year.
