Business need
Metal forming industry, especially manufacturing of steel components is a highly energy intensive process. It involves the continuous forming of steel sheet strip into an open seam tube, welding with high frequency resistance heating, pressure jointing to name a few steps in the process, all of which require high electrical energy. Energy management therefore is of prime importance, and directly impacts the firm’s competitiveness.
With the objective of generating its own electricity and make best use of its available rooftop infrastructure, SNB Enterprises planned to install a 1 MW solar rooftop power plant on the roof of its manufacturing facility. Rooftop power plants have emerged as a viable source of power that can enable a company to substantially save on ever increasing electricity costs. When combined with Net Metering facility, these rooftop solar plants can result in substantial savings in electricity costs as well as significantly reduce their carbon emissions.
On the statutory front as well, climate change and resulting regulations have driven many manufacturing organizations to consider renewable energy as an alternative source of power for their operations.
